Cover Supervisor

We are seeking reliable, confident, and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools across Barnsley. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with young people and are looking to gain valuable classroom experience. The role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced teaching assistants, or anyone with experience working with secondary-aged students.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring students remain engaged, on task, and work in a safe and positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of the classroom teacher.
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure students complete the work set.
• Maintain positive classroom behaviour and follow the school's behaviour policies.
• Provide support and guidance to students where appropriate.
• Report any issues or concerns to teaching staff and school leaders.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students while following safeguarding procedures.

Requirements

• Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Confidence in managing groups of students across a range of subjects.
• A flexible, adaptable, and professional approach to work.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK.
