Complex Needs Learning Support Assistant – Specialist School & College – Harlow | Immediate Start

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with complex additional needs?

We are working with a highly supportive special school and college in Harlow that is looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Complex Needs Learning Support Assistant to join their team immediately.

The setting supports children and young people with a wide range of complex needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and additional communication needs. Every student receives a personalised approach to learning, with a strong focus on developing independence, communication skills, confidence, and wellbeing.

As a Complex Needs Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to help students access learning and achieve their individual goals. The role may involve supporting pupils with sensory regulation, communication strategies, mobility needs, personal care, and social development, depending on the needs of the students you are supporting.

The school prides itself on creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every achievement is celebrated, no matter how small. Staff work collaboratively to ensure students feel safe, supported, and able to reach their full potential.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEND or additional needs
  • Have a patient, caring, and empathetic approach
  • Be confident supporting pupils with Autism, learning difficulties, and complex needs
  • Be comfortable working alongside therapists and specialist staff
  • Have a genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential
  • Be a positive team player with excellent communication skills

This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young adults with complex needs while gaining valuable experience within a specialist educational setting.
