Protocol Education is working in partnership with a specialist SEN school in Pilning to recruit a Clinical Psychologist to support children and young people aged 7–19 with autism and associated social communication needs.
The school provides a calm, structured and nurturing environment for pupils from Key Stage 2 through to post-16. Every young person is supported to explore and fulfil their potential, academically, socially and emotionally.
Staff work closely as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure pupils feel safe, understood and supported, with a strong focus on wellbeing, independence and positive outcomes beyond school.
As the school’s Clinical Psychologist, you’ll play a key role in shaping the emotional and behavioural development of pupils.
You’ll assess psychological needs and deliver tailored, evidence-based interventions to support pupils’ wellbeing, resilience and independence. Working collaboratively with education, pastoral and clinical colleagues, you’ll help embed Positive Behaviour Support approaches across the school, ensuring consistency and compassion in everyday practice.
You’ll also:
Work directly with pupils through one-to-one and group interventions
Provide consultation, guidance and training to staff
Support families to better understand and meet their child’s needs
Contribute to whole-school approaches around behaviour and emotional wellbeing
Supervise Assistant Psychologists where required
Be an active part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team

You’ll need:
HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
A postgraduate qualification in Psychology
Experience supporting children or young people with autism and complex needs
Experience working within educational, care or clinical settings
Confidence working within a multi-disciplinary team
Experience supervising Assistant Psychologists
A commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development
