Protocol Education is looking for enthusiastic, motivated students and graduates to support in schools across BS4 in both mainstream and SEN settings.
If you’re studying Psychology, Social Sciences, Education, Sports or a related field, or you simply have a genuine passion for working with children, your skills are more valuable than you might think. Schools are always looking for positive role models who can build strong relationships, support learning and bring energy into the classroom.
We have a range of roles available to suit different strengths and career goals. These include Teaching Assistant positions, Cover Supervisor and Unqualified Teacher roles, Behaviour Support, Tutors, Admin support and more.
You’ll work closely with a locally based consultant who has strong links with schools in the area and will take the time to understand what you’re looking for. Whether you’re hoping to gain experience before teacher training, explore SEN, or build confidence in a school setting, we’ll help match you to the right opportunity.
If you’re ready to gain hands-on experience and make a real difference in local schools, we’d love to hear from you.
Your role will include:
Providing 1:1 emotional and wellbeing support for pupils
Supporting children during moments of emotional overwhelm or challenge
Encouraging positive routines, engagement and healthy coping strategies
Working closely with class teachers and pastoral teams
Helping pupils feel safe, confident and ready to learn throughout the school day
This is a people-focused role where you’ll gain valuable classroom and pastoral experience, while making a genuine difference to pupils’ day-to-day school life.
What we’re looking for:
A recent graduate or someone looking to take their first step into education
An interest in child development, wellbeing, behaviour or pastoral support
A patient, resilient and empathetic approach
Strong communication skills and a natural ability to build rapport
Confidence supporting children who need encouragement, reassurance or guidance
A calm, consistent presence within the classroom and wider school environment
Pay & benefits:
Hourly rates (between £14.30 and £14.75), paid weekly via PAYE
£250 referral bonus when you recommend an ECT
Less admin, fewer meetings and more time working directly with pupils
Free access to our CPD Academy, including wellbeing and behaviour-focused training
A local Bristol consultant who knows their schools and supports you properly
Regular, consistent bookings, with longer-term roles available if you want stability
What you can expect:
Supportive, well-led primary schools in BS4
Clear routines and pastoral structures to help you succeed
Collaborative staff teams who value emotional wellbeing
On-the-job learning that builds confidence and transferable skills
Flexibility around days and placements where possible
This role is perfect if you:
Are considering a future in teaching, pastoral work, education or youth support
Enjoy working with children and building positive relationships
Stay calm and reflective in challenging situations
Want meaningful experience that strengthens future education or people-focused career paths
What we need to clear you:
Passport or proof of right to work in the UK
Two proofs of address, such as a driving licence or utility bill
CV covering the last 10 years, with any gaps explained
Two years of references, including voluntary, childcare or youth work where relevant
Overseas Police Check if you’ve lived abroad for three months or more in the last five years
