Job description
Protocol Education are working with a special education school in Gateshead who are currently recruiting a full time Catering Manager to join their kitchen team.

The school is a specialist school for children and young people aged 3-19 years with a range of special education needs including, physical, sensory and medical needs as well as speech, language and communication disorders, SEMH and Autism.

Main duties and responsibilities will be to direct the catering team in preparation, cooking and consistent presentation of all menus as required through the day in line with the Action Plan for the Catering Team. Other roles involve preparing and serving meals throughout day, manage food cost budget, supervise and assist in cleaning and lead and manage all kitchen staff.

To apply for this role, you must:
• Hold relevant Catering Qualification (City & Guilds 1 and 2 or NVQ Level 2 or equivalent)
• Level 2 Qualifications in Food Safety, Health and Safety, Allergen Awareness
• Experience working in a similar environment within catering industry
• Experience with food preparation and cookery in a similar environment
• Excellent customer service
• Ability to relate to pupils with a range of SEN needs
• Committed to working with children and young people

• Level 3 Qualification in Food Safety
• Previous supervisory experience
• Working with and supporting young people with additional needs
• Emotional resilience in working with children who display challenging behaviour

This is a full-time role 37 hours per week (term time only). The position is temporary with the view to go permanent for the right person.
