Job description
Care Assistant Needed

A care worker/assistant is required to work in a school in the London borough of Croydon. This role will involve working one to one with students with physical and mental disabilities as well as complex learning difficulties in an 'Outstanding' special school near East Croydon.

The school caters for children aged between 4-19 years with PMLD and severe communication disorders, bi-modal sensory impairment and physical disabilities. This role has elements of moving and handling, personal care, hoisting and swimming that you would be expected to assist so previous experience is beneficial however a keen attitude to learn and get in involved is also welcomed.

This school has been graded Outstanding in each of the their last 3 Ofsted reviews and is regarded as one of the leading special needs schools in London and is known for fulfilling and exceeding students potentials. A lot of the staff at the school have been their for many years as the school have developed a "family environment" that sees all staff treated as equals and given the same opportunities to progress through the school.

Main Duties:
• Supporting students with work set by the class teacher
• Assisting with moving & handling/personal care/hoisting
• Working with the teacher to assess pupils levels and ability
• Ensuring the schools ethos and policies are being implemented
• Liaising with parents and carers

• Experienced working with SEND needs (PMLD, SLD, ASD)

If you have Paediatric medical training OR come from a nursing/respite care background, this role would be ideal for you.

Please note that you will not be considered for this position if you don't possess an enhanced DBS Disclosure, or if you are not eligible to work in the UK.
