We are currently recruiting for experienced teaching assistants who are qualified in British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1, 2 or 3 to work closely with our SEND provisions that provide support for children with hearing impairment in the south east of London.

Our SEND schools and SEND provisions are always looking for outgoing and confident Teaching assistants who have experience within a SEND/or child care setting and are passionate working with pupils who have additional needs, particularly supporting students with Hearing Impairment. It's vital for schools to find the most suitable candidate for their students to ensure that levels of attainment are being met accordingly and they have the ability support the student's individual needs accordingly.

The successful candidate will be able to assist in improving students learning and development. The ideal applicant for this role must have a minimum of a Level 2 in Sign Language, however, candidates with a lower level of qualification and a high level of experience in using British Sign Language will also be considered. We are looking for dedicated and knowledgeable individuals who want to make a difference, who are committed to long-term roles and can support students with Hearing Impairment.

You must hold:

• Level 1, 2 or 3 in British Sign language
• Must have a current DBS
• Experience working with students with Hearing impairment.
• Passion for working with Special Educational Needs

The successful candidates need to have previous experience of working with SEN students and have a strong desire of getting involved in every aspect of the school. Experience with children and young adults that have PMLD, SLD, ASD & MLD would be preferable.

Other experience & qualifications desirable:

• Team Teach/MAPA qualified
• Positive handling
• Restorative justice
• First Aid trained

Successful Applicants will be subject to references and an up to date DBS or be willing to apply for a Protocol DBS.
