Behaviour Support Workers Secondary School Central Leeds

We are seeking two Behaviour Support Workers for a school based close to Leeds City Centre.
The school is a mainstream setting, but you would work between the main site and the offsite provision. The school is a challenging but thriving school with a strong staff support system.

The successful candidate must have experience working with students or adults with challenging behaviour. Ideally you will have experience in a UK school setting, understand the current UK curriculum and have exceptional behaviour management skills.

A Team Teach Qualification is not needed but would be an advantage.

You will be working with pupils between 11 and 16 years. Many of the students may have complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. When working at the provision, the pupils have been excluded from the main school site and may display challenging behaviour. You will be able to build a rapport with young people and establish values based on mutual respect, trust and understanding.

It would be an advantage if you also hold a specialism such as a Sport, a Creative subject or a Drama subject as the students respond well to extra-curricular type activities to aid them with their barriers to learning.

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will:
•Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to gain one asap
•Have experience working with students or adults with challenging behaviour
•Have knowledge & understanding of behaviour and conflict, being able to recognise typical signs and causes
•Have knowledge & understanding of the importance of using de-escalation strategies where possible
•Have knowledge and understanding of a whole setting holistic approach to behaviour management, including the importance of self-awareness and self-control whilst managing challenging behaviour
•Have a genuine passion for helping our younger generation overcome their barriers to learning
•Have exceptional knowledge safeguarding policies & procedures
