Protocol Education are working on behalf of a Sunderland secondary school to recruit a behaviour support worker. The position is to start ASAP and the successful candidate will be require until the end of the summer term 2021.
The school requires a candidate with a strong pastoral background to support teaching staff in reinforcing the behaviour policy and expectation. General responsibilities will involve monitoring behaviour in lessons by being a presence within the corridors and communal areas, deescalating any behaviour of concern and supervising students within the school's isolation provision.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have experience supporting with children and young people in a pastoral setting or deescalating behaviour
• Have a confident and friendly personality
• Remain calm in stressful situations
• Show a genuine interest of working with children and young people
• Show a desire to motivate disengaged learners

Because of the nature of the role, previous classroom experience is not essential. The role may be suitable for a candidate from a policing or youth work background.
