A primary school which caters to children with autism, complex needs and severe learning disabilities in the borough of Southwark is looking for a Behaviour Mentor. The role requires that you work Monday to Friday (term time only) during the hours 08:15- 16:00 and would be starting after the Easter break.

The school prides itself on its supportive staff and its inclusive learning environment. There are permanent opportunities available for the right candidates.


This role would suite a patient, creative individual who has a passion for working with children with special needs. You will be working with pupils at times who can be physically challenging. So, it is important that you are confident with dealing with challenging behaviour so experience is essential you will also be able to provide a level of personal care when it is required.


To be considered for this role, you must be:

• Confident in managing challenging behaviour.
• Able to come up with creative approaches to keep students engaged with the learning process.
• Available immediately and able to commit for at least 6 months..
• Comfortable assessing a pupil's progress and supporting the class teacher.
• Able to provide a reference from the last two years working with children or vulnerable adults in either a professional or volunteer capacity.
• Up-to-date Safeguarding training is imperative in the last 12 months.


An enhanced DBS is required by law to work with children, if you do not have one on the update service, you must be prepared to apply for through Protocol Education at the cost of £40.
