Job description
Behaviour & Inclusion Support Workers South Kirklees

We are currently looking for Behaviour Support Workers to work in a SEMH school based in the South Kirklees area. This school is part of a trust that provides an education for students who can't go to a mainstream school, because of exclusion, illness or other reasons and therefore would not otherwise receive a suitable education. The groups you would be working with are key stage three children that are in transition to these new environments. You may also be required to support key stage four students in lessons and during their recreational time.

You will ideally hold a Team Teach certification or be prepared to get one and have a passion for working with young people aged 11-19. The work can be especially rewarding; however, it can also be challenging too, so you need to be resilient, clam, composed and have the ability to manage challenging behaviour in this setting. Many students have complex communication needs, severe learning difficulties or are autistic and some occasionally challenge and engage in off task behaviours. Many successful candidates have come from a sporting or a coaching background, have studied Psychology or have worked in care environment or Social Work.

• A DBS certificate with a live subscription to the update service or be willing to get one
• Two professional references within the last three years
