Behaviour Support Assistant – Sunderland
Full-Time | September Start | Term Time Only

Protocol Education is working closely with a specialist provision in Sunderland that caters for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, autism, and behavioural challenges. We are looking for a committed Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team and make a real impact on students’ lives.

The Role:

  • Provide consistent support to pupils with challenging behaviour

  • Help pupils develop strategies for managing emotions and building resilience

  • Support learning activities both inside and outside of the classroom

  • Use positive behaviour management techniques to maintain a safe and supportive environment

  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to deliver individualised support

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH, autism or behavioural needs (school-based or other relevant experience)

  • A calm, confident, and nurturing approach

  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with students

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to different strategies and interventions

  • Relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA) is advantageous, but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
