Protocol Education is working with a specialist SEMH provision in South Shields that is looking to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team this September.

This nurturing setting supports children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism, ADHD and associated behavioural needs. You'll play a vital role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning by providing consistency, encouragement and positive role modelling every day.

Role Details

  • Full-time
  • September start
  • Monday-Friday
  • Working hours between 8:30am-3:30pm and 8:30am-4:30pm
  • Term-time only
  • Long-term opportunity with permanent potential

Your responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small group behaviour support
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation
  • Building trusting, positive relationships
  • Helping pupils engage with learning
  • Supporting behaviour intervention plans
  • Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff and therapists
  • Recording observations and celebrating pupil progress

We're looking for someone who

  • Is patient, resilient and calm under pressure
  • Has experience within education, youth work, residential care, coaching or support work
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Is passionate about supporting young people with SEMH

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
