Telford £90 - 100 per day Supply Teaching 311026993 Posted 4 weeks ago
We’re working closely with a secondary school in Telford that’s really on the up. There’s a clear sense of momentum, expectations are rising, standards are improving, and there’s a shared belief that every student can achieve more.
It’s a school that’s focusing on what matters most, strong teaching, positive behaviour, and better outcomes for all. Just as importantly, there’s a real commitment to making sure students feel supported, understood, and ready to succeed.
This is a mainstream setting, supporting pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4. Alongside academic progress, there’s a big focus on helping students build confidence, resilience, and the life skills they’ll carry with them beyond school.
Safeguarding is solid, leadership is visible, and pastoral care plays a huge part in daily life. The aim is simple, create a calm, respectful space where students can learn well and aim high.
The role: Behaviour Support Assistant
We’re looking for a calm, reliable Behaviour Support Assistant to join the team and support students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
You’ll be working with young people who can find school life challenging at times, whether that’s staying engaged in lessons, managing emotions, or navigating behaviour. In a busy secondary setting, your role is to be that steady, consistent presence.
Someone who can de-escalate situations, build trust over time, and help students reset and re-engage.
This role is all about the small wins. A student staying in class a little longer. Completing a piece of work. Choosing a different response. It might not always be loud progress, but it’s meaningful, and it adds up.
What you’ll be doing
Supporting students with SEMH and behavioural needs, both 1:1 and in small groups
Using calm, effective de-escalation strategies when things become challenging
Building strong relationships so students feel safe, respected, and understood
Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals
Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement throughout the day
What the school offers
This is a school that’s genuinely investing in its future. Their focus includes:
A knowledge-rich curriculum that builds strong academic foundations
Raising aspirations and preparing students for life beyond school
A safe, inclusive environment where positive behaviour is the norm
Ongoing improvements in safeguarding, teaching, and personal development
High-quality CPD and support for staff at every stage
Pastoral care sits right at the heart of what they do, with strong links between school and home to support attendance, wellbeing, and long-term success.
Who this role suits
You might be a great fit if you:
Have experience supporting young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional needs
Stay calm, patient, and resilient, even when things feel tough
Understand the value of consistency, clear boundaries, and empathy
Work well as part of a team and communicate confidently with staff and families
Care deeply about helping young people succeed, in school and beyond
If you’re interested in behaviour support, youth work, psychology, education, or SEND, this is a brilliant opportunity to gain meaningful experience in a mainstream secondary setting.
