Job description
Protocol Education are working closely with a number of secondary schools in the York area, looking for Behaviour Buddies to work alongside children aged between 11-18.

Previous experience within an education environment is not necessary, however, we do specify that you are either a university graduate or you have experience working with any of the following:

•Sports coaching
•Drama/Theatre/Music workshops
•Support work within a supported living/residential environment
•Ex military
•Youth Offending

The person must be able to handle challenging behaviour in a calm and structured manner and embed a rigorous timetable to enlighten children's enjoyment in their education and progress their attainment in this vital learning period. The school will provide support and a detailed understanding of the children as well as appropriate resources to implement your plans to ensure learning is engaging and structured. You must have a patient and understanding demeanour and be resilient to challenging behaviour. Be a strong leader who can influence, in a positive way, and encourage the re-engagement of education.

A Behaviour Buddy role is an important, intervention role, implemented in mainstream schools. It has been designed to help students with behavioural issues overcome them and continue, in full time education, to achieve their full potential.
