Many pupils within the provision benefit from predictable routines, visual communication strategies and sensory-aware environments. Class sizes are small, allowing staff to provide highly personalised support and build strong relationships with pupils.
As an Autism Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help pupils access learning and develop important communication and life skills.
Responsibilities within the role may include:
• Providing 1:1 or small group support within the classroom
• Supporting pupils with communication and interaction using visual supports, symbols or alternative communication methods
• Assisting with structured routines and transitions throughout the school day
• Supporting pupils with sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing
• Encouraging independence, engagement and positive social interaction
The school is looking for individuals who are patient, compassionate and committed to supporting children with additional needs. Previous experience working with children, young people or adults with SEND is highly desirable, although candidates from care, support work or youth work backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
Applicants should ideally hold a valid DBS on the Update Service. If you do not currently have one, you will be required to apply for a new DBS through Protocol Education as part of the compliance process.
If you are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people with additional needs, we would love to hear from you – apply now to speak with a member of our team and find out more about this rewarding opportunity.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.
