About the Role:
Pay: £65 - £75 per day, dependant on qualifications / experience
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday
Start date: ASAP, dependant on availability
This specialist SEND school runs for pupils with all SEND needs. However, this role is to specifically work and develop the abilities of learners diagnosed with autism. The role requires you to work 1:1 and with small groups to help develop both academic and personal development across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 environments.
The school offer specialist support to enable all its pupils to achieve academic success whilst supporting in meeting their needs linked to their diagnosis of Autism. All pupils attending the school have an Education, Health and Care Plan for specialist provision.
The successful applicant will have high expectations of each individual learner and will be skilled in delivering individual programmes that enable pupils to be successful academically and to achieve progress towards their personalised outcomes.
We are looking for:
● Skills in supporting pupils with additional needs including autism
● Good team member and leader with clear communication skills
As an Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will support Class Teachers in enabling pupils with communication and interaction needs to succeed at school. You will be required to put in place strategies that support pupils to engage in the curriculum and will be responsible for delivering learning sequences (with support from the teacher), preparing resources and ensuring progress is made by all pupils.
The successful applicant must be committed to providing the best possible education to pupils. They must be understanding of the complex difficulties autistic pupils face and be passionate about breaking down the barriers to give them the best possible chances to succeed.
As a result of their special educational needs, many of our pupils will struggle with emotional regulation and this can lead to significant challenging behaviours. Candidates need to be prepared to adopt a problem-solving approach, working collaboratively with our internal and external specialists to achieve positive outcomes in an individualised way.
