Job description
Protocol are seeking to recruit Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants for students on the Autism Spectrum, for both Daily and Long Term cover in the Newcastle, Northumberland, Sunderland and County Durham.

Have you worked in schools or Clubs with children with Autism?
Do you have any 1:1 or group experience with children with Autism in any of the school key stages?
Do you have an understanding of the condition and the typical traits of Autism and how to support them?
Are you MAKATON or PECS trained and qualified?

We will consider teaching assistants who have worked in a mainstream setting with relevant skills and experience.

You will demonstrate a professional approach and be able to take the initiative and work effectively with permanent staff and have the aptitude to form good relationships and be able to communicate effectively with parents and other professionals. It is vital that you hold a valid, recognised qualification and/or have had at least 6 weeks recent experience of teaching within an SEN environment in the UK within the last 3 years.

You must:
• Be eligible to work in the UK
• Have up to date professional childcare related references (covering the last 2 years)
• Have an enhanced DBS disclosure on the Update Service or be happy to apply for one
