Job description
Support Workers are needed to work in a specialist further education college in Somerset. The pupils are between the ages of 16-25 and are on the Autistic Spectrum. This is a role ideal for candidates wishing to gain extra experience in a classroom working with children who have additional needs.

The role is 90 hours over two weeks but working patterns can be flexible if you have preferences (this can be discussed at interview). Work will consist of supporting the pupils in college and in the local community. This involves supporting them with class work and assisting them with leisure activities such as; cinema, gym, park and pub. At the college, they strive to support all of their students in preparing for adulthood, feeling empowered to make choices and optimising their independent living skills.

This college places emphasis on personality and attitude towards the role therefore you must have the correct approach towards working in education. They notice skills that can be transferrable and used in the setting when working with them, they are very open minded and is great to work for. There is a great career ladder to work up as their CEO started as a support worker as well as their Head of Education.

Essential Criteria:
•Knowledge/awareness of ASD or SEND
•Flexibility with working patterns
•Resilience and a hands-on approach
•Friendliness and an ability to adapt to your environment

Desirable Criteria:
•Team Teach training
•Previous experience with SEND/ASD
•Previous experience in a classroom environment
