Job description
Are you a SEN Teaching Assistant seeking a new role?

I am recruiting on behalf of a vibrant, larger than average school in Darlington with a Good' Ofsted rating across the board. This school is seeking a passionate, dedicated individual to work with young people with ASD, aged 6-18.

Your role would involve aiding the pupils to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and on an individual basis:

§ Clarifying and explaining instructions

§ Ensuring the pupils are able to use equipment and materials provided

§ Motivating and encouraging as required by providing levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to pupils' needs

§ Using praise, commentary and assistance to encourage the pupils to concentrate and stay on task

§ Liaising with the class teacher, SENCO and other professionals about individual education plans (IEPs), contributing to the planning and delivery as appropriate

§ Consistently and effectively implementing agreed behaviour management strategies

§ Helping to make appropriate resources to support the pupils

§ Monitor the pupil's responses to the learning activities and, where appropriate, modify or adapt the activities as agreed with the teacher to achieve the intended learning outcomes.

This position is open to anyone with a minimum of 3 months of experience working as ASD Teaching Assistant, or as a community Support Assistant but a TA qualification at Level 2 or higher is advantageous.
