This role is based within a centre for autism in a mainstream school located in the London borough of Lambeth. The school follows the national curriculum but also offers a modified curriculum to ensure their autistic pupils can participate in all areas of the curriculum and learn effectively from their individual starting points. Although this role is temporary please be aware that you may be able to progress into a long-term supply position.

As an ASD Teacher, you will need to be resilient, compassionate and patient, understanding the importance of embracing individual uniqueness within every child. Part of your role will include supporting senior leaders with a variety of teaching methods to suit each pupils' different learning styles. For instance, some children will benefit from a multi-sensory approach that accommodates their kinaesthetic and visual learning styles.


Responsibilities:

• Boosting academic performance in English (including reading, writing and phonics), Maths, Science and other subjects.
• Communication, speech and language skills.
• Social skills, behaviour and emotional-regulation support.
• Study-skills and organisation-skills support.
• Building confidence and self-esteem.
• Enhancing independence.

For this role, you will have:

• A QTS.
• Experience working in mainstream schools, in a SEN department or in a special needs school.
• Experience working one to one and in small groups.
• An enthusiastic and friendly, yet firm approach to teaching.
