Job description
A 'Good' School in the London borough of Hounslow is currently looking for Learning Support Assistants to join them in their specialist unit in September. Attached to the main primary school the unit is made up of 2 classes, Reception Class and KS1 and then a KS2 class.

Each class has a capacity of 8 children and all children should have a statement of autism before gaining a place in the centre.
Children are taught all the subjects they would learn in a mainstream setting but differentiated to suit their needs, language and social skills are addressed in every lesson and Speech and Occupational Therapists work with individual and groups of children and class staff continue this work throughout the week.

You will need to have experience of working with children with ASD either in a mainstream setting or a similar specialist unit although no qualifications are required for the role any training such as Team Teach, PECS or Makaton would be a distinct advantage.

The most important thing required for the role is the combination of energy, enthusiasm and patience that is required for the role in return you will be working with a qualified team to support you and in an environment where there is a strong emphasis on CPD.
