Artistic Youth Worker

Protocol Education is working in partnership with a well-established SEND school in Shropshire to recruit a dedicated Artistic Youth Worker. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in the arts, drama, or creative therapy to bring their skills into a purposeful and rewarding setting.

The school takes a holistic approach to learning, supporting pupils with complex needs including autism, SEMH, and behavioural challenges. All students have an EHCP, and the school provides a calm, structured environment with individualised support plans in place.

The Role:

As an Artistic Youth Worker, you’ll work both 1:1 and within classroom groups to support student development through creativity. You’ll help pupils engage with learning, express themselves, and build confidence using artistic and sensory-based approaches.

Key responsibilities:

• Supporting students’ emotional and educational development through creative strategies
• Using drama, music, art, or movement to help pupils communicate and stay engaged
• Collaborating with teachers and support staff to deliver personalised learning plans
• Promoting a positive, inclusive classroom culture
• Helping pupils regulate emotions and participate meaningfully in daily routines

Ideal Candidate:

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has experience or qualifications in the arts, drama, creative therapies, or similar
• Has worked with children or young people with SEND, particularly ASD and SEMH
• Is adaptable, empathetic, and confident in dynamic environments
• Brings creativity and care to every interaction
• Is committed to promoting wellbeing and inclusion in education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
