rotocol Education are currently looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Art Teacher to join a well-established secondary school in the Durham area from September.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher who is looking for more than just a classroom-based role. The successful candidate will take on a key role within the Art department, using their experience and subject knowledge to help support the wider team and contribute to the continued development of the department.

The school is a large, welcoming secondary school with high expectations for both staff and students. The Art department is looking for someone confident, creative and committed to delivering an engaging curriculum that allows students to develop their skills and passion for the subject.

About the Role

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality Art lessons across the secondary age range, while also taking a more senior role within the department.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging and creative Art lessons
  • Supporting students to develop their practical and theoretical Art skills
  • Taking a leading role within the department
  • Contributing to curriculum planning and departmental development
  • Supporting colleagues and sharing your experience and ideas
  • Maintaining high standards of behaviour, progress and achievement
  • Tracking student progress and adapting teaching accordingly
  • Contributing positively to the wider school community

What We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced Art Teachers who are confident working within a secondary school environment and are ready to take on additional responsibility.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification
  • Strong experience teaching Art at secondary level
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a genuine passion for Art
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Experience of taking responsibility within a department would be advantageous
  • The confidence to support and work alongside other members of the department
  • A creative and enthusiastic approach to teaching
  • High expectations of student achievement and behaviour
  • A commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
