1:1 Teaching Assistant

Some children don’t walk into school ready to learn. They walk in carrying a lot more than their backpack.

We’re working with a supportive primary school in South Bristol looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEMH needs.

This role is about relationships. Because when a child trusts you, that’s when learning starts to happen.

What your day will involve:
You’ll be a consistent, reliable presence for one pupil, helping them feel safe, settled, and ready to engage.

You’ll support emotional regulation, encourage positive choices, and celebrate the small wins that build confidence over time.

You’ll also work closely with staff to keep approaches consistent and supportive.

The ideal candidate:
You’re empathetic, grounded, and able to stay calm when emotions run high.

You might have experience in schools, care, or support work, or just a natural ability to connect with young people.
