1:1 Special Needs Assistant - Jan Start

Protocol Education are currently looking for an inspiring and passionate individual with excellent interpersonal skills to provide 1:1 support to a young child with complex learning difficulties. The school we are recruiting for is a wonderful Secondary SEN school close to the Reigate area, who have brought in incredible initiatives over the past 18 months to provide more development opportunities to their pupils. The pupils in the school have a range of special needs including Autism, ADHD, Downs Syndrome and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs.

The 1:1 we are recruiting for in particular is for a child with Autism, ADHD and other complex needs. In this role you would be required to work 1:1 with this pupil throughout the entire school day and be able to develop a relationship, provide effective communication and be competent in understanding and adjusting to a child's needs, and the way they react. Any candidates that are MAPPA trained or attended similar de-escalation courses would be prefereable but not essential.

The successful candidate will:

Be enthusiastic and flexible with a very "hands-on" approach
Be prepared to get involved with school life and make a positive contribution to the school
Have fantastic interpesonal skills
Have first class communication skills
Be passionate about making a difference
MAPPA training is desirable but not essential
Be available full time from January 2019
Have SEMH experience
PRU experience is desirable
