1:1 Learning Support Assistant

We're looking for a caring and committed 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school near Wotton-under-Edge. Set within a close-knit village community, the school places kindness, curiosity and respect at the heart of everything it does, encouraging children to grow into confident, thoughtful learners who look after one another.

No formal qualifications are required for this role. If you've worked with children before, whether in schools, clubs, childcare, youth work, or similar settings, we'd love to hear from you. Experience is preferred, but a positive attitude, patience, and a genuine desire to make a difference matter just as much.

You'll be supporting a pupil on a one-to-one basis throughout the school day, helping them access learning, build confidence, and celebrate those all-important little wins that add up to something big.

What you'll be doing:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support within the classroom and wider school environment
• Building a positive, trusting relationship with the child you support
• Working closely with teachers and support staff to create a consistent, nurturing experience
• Encouraging independence, confidence, and a love of learning

What we're looking for:

• Experience working with children is preferred, but not essential
• A calm, patient and encouraging approach
• Excellent communication skills and a good sense of humour, because every school day comes with a few surprises
• A genuine commitment to supporting young people to thrive

The essentials:

• Two years of professional references are required
• An Enhanced Child Only DBS registered on the Update Service is essential
• Availability to work Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
