This role is based within a special needs school located in Lewisham. The children are aged 5 to 16 and have social, emotional, mental health needs. The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant aiming to provide a happy, stimulating and safe learning environment where pupils are positively encouraged to engage in their learning.

As a TA, you will need to be resilient, compassionate and patient, understanding the importance of embracing individual uniqueness within every child. Part of your role will include liaising with the teacher to understand the areas which pupils need to improve in and their different learning styles.


Responsibilities:

• Boosting academic performance in English (including reading, writing and phonics), Maths, Science and other subjects.
• Communication, speech and language skills.
• Social skills, behaviour and emotional-regulation support.
• Study-skills and organisation-skills support.
• Building their confidence and self-esteem.
• Enhancing independence.

For this role, you will have:

• A Level 2 or above Qualification related to Teaching and Learning Support.
• Experience working in a special need's schools or in the SEN department of a mainstream school
• Experience working one to one and in small groups.
• An enthusiastic and friendly, yet firm approach to teaching.
