The Role

As a Behaviour Specialist, you will work collaboratively with school leaders, teachers, teaching assistants, families, and external professionals to assess behavioural needs, implement evidence-informed interventions, and support pupils in reaching their full potential.

You will play a key role in helping schools develop consistent, proactive approaches to behaviour while supporting pupils with ASD to engage successfully in learning and school life.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct behavioural observations and functional assessments.
• Develop, implement, and review Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans tailored to individual pupils.
• Provide direct support and coaching for pupils with ASD who present with behaviours that challenge.
• Model effective behaviour support strategies within the classroom.
• Deliver guidance and mentoring to school staff on autism-informed practice and behaviour management.
• Analyse behavioural data to monitor progress and adapt interventions.
• Work closely with parents, carers, SENCOs, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent support.
• Promote inclusive, safe, and nurturing learning environments that enable pupils to achieve positive outcomes.
• Support schools in developing sustainable behaviour support practices.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

• Experience supporting children or young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within an educational setting.
• Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and evidence-based behaviour interventions.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
• A calm, solution-focused approach with the ability to build trust quickly.
• Experience working collaboratively with school staff and families.
• A relevant qualification in Education, Psychology, Behaviour Analysis, Special Educational Needs, Occupational Therapy, or a related field (desirable).
