POST: Teacher of Science, Full time, Permanent

RESPONSIBLE TO: Curriculum Leader – Science

Charlton School is offering an exciting opportunity for a teacher to join their successful Science department and become part of a hard working, loyal team.
As a member of the team you will be expected to ensure the progress of every child and develop their Scientific skills, knowledge and understanding within the relevant curriculum.
The school and department pride themselves on having above national average results and these continue to improve year on year. The department itself includes eleven full-time equivalent teachers, three technicians and very well equipped laboratories.
In October 2011 we were successfully OFSTED inspected, with an overall judgement of ‘good’. The report acknowledges the consistently effective leadership, which has improved the progress of students in all groups. Achievement and progress in Science are high as evidenced by previous results. At the end of KS3 and KS4 results are above national averages and of schools within a similar context. In recent years our L5+ ranged from 70 - 78% with A* to C based on entry between 72 - 89%. All students who studied separate sciences last year achieved 100% A* to C.
The Science department have an excellent team spirit where collaboration, cooperation and the sharing of best practice are actively promoted through hard work within a supportive team. Learning is at the heart of all they do and they aim to provide students with outstanding opportunities, in an environment where expectations are high and the contribution made by each individual is fully valued.
Charlton school is looking for a teacher who is enthusiastic about their subject, someone who can inspire the children in their care to be passionate about science and all it can offer and reach their full potential.
