SEND Tutor

Protocol Education are seeking confident, compassionate and engaging individuals to provide quality of education to young people with SEN (Special Education Needs) / SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities), as well as other needs such as SEMH needs (Social, Emotional and Mental Health).

This role is perfect for qualified SEN / SEND practitioners who are eager to work via 1:1 tutoring with children and young people with a variety of learning needs, to raise their engagement and improve their educational journey.

The SEND Tutor role:

  • This role will involve providing Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD / SLD).
  • These young people are referred to us by local authorities and schools and will require some level of support in their educational and social-emotional journey.
  • The students are aged between 11-16 years old, and need support preparing for the GCSEs.

SEND Tutor responsibilities:

  • Planning and preparing for each tutoring session to meet the child’s needs.
  • Providing engaging lessons that help the student progress.
  • Providing the young person with holistic and engaging sessions which meet their needs and advance their educational and social-emotional journey.
  • Completing lesson reports and providing feedback on the young person's progress

SEND Tutor requirements:

  • Experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and other Additional Educational Needs.
  • Professional references covering the last two years.
  • Hold an Enhanced Child only DBS on the Updated Service.
  • You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, even for remote / online jobs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
