Meet Clodagh - our Irish International Coordinator

Clodagh is an Irish trained teacher. She’s originally from County Cork, completed her undergraduate at UCC, then spent some time working in Dublin before commencing her PGDE in NUIG.

"Having completed my PGDE at NUI Galway in 2009, I made the decision to move to England to take up a teaching position to gain experience as, like so many other Irish graduates, I wasn’t able to get work at home.  I began to get to grips with the English education system and was soon asking my students to take out their “exercise books” not “copies” and enjoying my “half term” as opposed to “mid term” breaks!

I’ve gained great experience having now taught every year group in a number of different types of schools. I’ve taken on various contracts from day-to-day supply (substitute) work to a permanent post which I held for two years, bringing my students through their GCSE and A Level examinations (Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate).

I joined Protocol Education in December 2012 looking for a new challenge. I’m really enjoying my role as international candidate coordinator and I feel my skills and experience allow me to provide an excellent all round support service for our teachers. The education systems are different - there are many things I wish I’d known, so I’m really excited to prepare you for the role you’re taking on. I’m looking forward to sharing what I’ve learnt inside and outside of the classroom from the years I’ve spent here to help you settle in!"
