Qualified Teacher Status

As an Overseas Trained Teacher (OTT) your teaching qualification in most cases will be recognised in the UK (if you are in any doubts you should contact Naric UK), however you will not have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) as most of your UK trained colleagues will have.

An OTT can teach in the UK for a total of four years without gaining QTS; you will not be able to continue teaching after this four year mark unless you gain QTS. Also, if you are looking for a permanent contract with a school and are still classed as an OTT, not having QTS will impact on your pay.
