As part of changes to the way schools manage cover for absent teachers the role of Cover Supervisor has been created.
Cover Supervisors are non-teaching staff who look after a whole class of children while the regular teacher is absent. This role of whole class supervision requires candidates to have certain skills, experience and training. However, head teachers often use their discretion to decide if someone is suitable to fulfil this role.
